Throughout the Hanover region, various transport companies in the ÜSTRA transport association offer tickets for purchase from ticket machines.

Most ticket machines are operated by ÜSTRA. You will find at least one of them at every tram stop and in every underground station. At the machines you can purchase various tickets for your journey(ies) within the ÜSTRA fare zone. Single and day tickets are available here for immediate travel and are therefore already validated when they come out of the machine. If you buy a monthly ticket here, you can choose the day on which it should become valid. Six-trip tickets, six-day tickets, regional fare tickets and first-class tickets are not available from these machines.

All new ÜSTRA ticket machines accept cashless payment, but there is also at least one machine at each stop where you can buy your ticket with cash.

At stations in the ÜSTRA fare zone, you will also find ticket machines set up by the railway companies. Here you can also buy tickets for the Hanover region. The differences are as follows: tickets from these machines must be validated before you start your journey, and monthly tickets are also available here at regional fares.

If you are travelling on an ÜSTRA or regiobus bus, you can also buy your short-distance ticket, single ticket or day ticket directly from the driver at the front of the bus. These tickets are for immediate use and are therefore already validated. If you are travelling on a regiobus line, you can also purchase monthly tickets from the driver. These tickets are not available on ÜSTRA buses.

The buses are equipped with card readers that accept all standard credit cards, girocards (EC cards) or other cashless payment systems, so you can also pay for your ticket conveniently without cash. This means you can also hop on spontaneously – when time is short – and buy a ticket.

6-trip tickets, 6-day tickets, day tickets for groups of children, 1st class monthly tickets for the Deutschlandticket, D-Ticket plus or 1st class tickets, as well as regional fare tickets and season tickets, are not available on the bus.
